Ways to Get a Better Night’s Sleep

This post is a paid collaboration with This Works, but all thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for the continuous support of The Daily Seyi!

One thing I take a bit of pride in is making sure I get a good night’s rest almost every night. Sure, there are some nights where I wish I had an extra hour, but as long as I can get in a good 6 hours of sleep, I’m usually set! As a working adult, it can be hard to settle your mind before your sleep. We are usually inundated with thoughts about bills, things we need to do at work the next day, what you may need for the kids (if you have any), etc. etc. etc. So today’s post is all about the ways you can get a better night’s sleep. Let’s get into it!

Use a PillowSpray

Not sure why it’s taken me so long to hop on the pillow spray train but I am not getting off anytime soon! I’ve been using This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray when I need that extra help to get my mind and body into sleep repair mode. Despite my skepticism, this spray does exactly what it says it will do.

Two spritz over my pillow and I’m engulfed in a lovely and bearable lavender scent. The more I breathe in, the more I relax, and before I know it, it’s 6am and time for me to start my day! And as someone with sensitive skin, this product does not break me out. I mention this because the spray is meant to go directly on your pillow, so with anything, I’m always cautious when new products that are in close contact with my skin. But the spray mists out evenly into the pillow and doesn’t leave it wet. A win!

This Works also has a Sleep Plus+ Pillow Spray  for those that struggle to stay asleep, along with other products that to help you relax throughout your day and night. I’m also loving the simplistic packaging, making it perfect to put on a nightstand or dresser that can easily blend with your other decor.

Limit Social Media

Our minds get very stimulated by the images and videos we see across social media. We get interested and want to interact, which then sends the message to our brain of “work mode” when essentially, you need to be telling your brain it’s almost time to sleep. So one way is to avoid any social media 30 mins to an hour before you sleep. This can be difficult and will likely take some practice, but it can be done. Try to do something else instead. I usually play a mindless game. This helps put me in a relaxed mode and before I know it, I’m falling asleep.

Play White Noise/Sound Soothers

Ever find yourself wanting to curl up in bed for a good nap when it’s raining outside? Something about the “pitter patter” sound of the rain hitting the cement on the floor triggers this feeling of wanting to sleep. It’s beautiful. And that’s about the only thing about rain that I like.

Moving on!

Water sounds are my personal favorite if I’m needing some extra help in the sleep department. Waves crashing, waterfalls, flowy brooks, are all examples of white noises that help put the mind at ease and helps you focus on one thing, achieving that REM!

Hope these tips help you as you focus on getting a better night’s sleep. For whatever reason it may be, we all deserve at least that much. Be sure to check out the Deep Sleep Pillow Spray from This Works at ULTA Beauty!

Until next time…
