There’s nothing worse than having to choose between looking cute or being warm. I used to be the person that would choose style over warmth and do not make my mistake! Who said you couldn’t do both, seamlessly! This post is all about how to stay warm and look cute as we head into the holiday season.
There’s a technique to layering without looking overly bulky. You want to find pieces that are equally lightweight and warm. Take this turtleneck top that I always have in my arsenal. It provides me warmth, but it’s thin enough to layer under this jumpsuit and under this coat. It also has a nice amount of stretch so it can be manipulated easily.
Another way to layer is by wearing leggings or tights underneath your pants. I find this works best with wide leg pants, but if you’re wanting to wear more fitted pants, I would go for nylons (or pantyhose, whatever term you prefer) and layer that with a pair of knee high socks. That way, your ankles and calves are still kept nice and warm.
Although I prefer my looks to be on the tapered side, when it comes to winter coats, I tend to go more oversized. Having extra room allows me to:
I used to be the type of person that didn’t think a winter coat was necessary. Don’t be like old me. A chic winter coat is absolutely necessary and I am now obsessed with them.
At the very least, you want to make sure that the sensitive areas of your body (feet, hands, neck, ears) are all properly covered up. If those areas are warm, you’re less likely to feel like you are freezing your butt off. Especially on a super cold day when the wind chill is biting, this is extremely important.
Ear muffs are going to be your best friend (if you live in super cold climates).
Oversized scarves are the best because they can definitely double as a mini blanket if the occasion ever called for it.
Gloves are necessary and manufacturers have finally gotten on the wave of making them tech friendly (i.e. you can use your phone without having to choose to get first degree frostbite on your fingers).
Those are my tips on how to stay warm and look cute this holiday season! Hope you found this post helpful.
Until next time…
