4 Makeup Trends to Try this Summer 2019

Makeup trends really do come and go but there are some that really do tend to stay, so I wanted to share the 4 Makeup Trends to Try this Summer 2019 that you’ll want to keep wearing all year long. Let’s get right into it!

Colored Glossy Lips

I really used to be a matte lip all day everyday type of girl. And then Rihanna dropped her Fenty Glow lip gloss and my life was forever changed. I’m such a fan of the glossy lip, so no surprise that when the colored glossy lip trend came around, I was here for it.

You’re going to first line your lips with a lip liner (for this look, I used Cherry by MAC). I then applied a matte lipstick as my base (Ruby Woo, also by MAC). A good matte lipstick won’t easily rub off, which is why I would recommend using that as a base. Finally, I topped it off with a glossy liquid lippie (Cherry on Top by Revlon). Try to find a gloss that matches the shade of matte lipstick you applied for maximum color payoff.

Natural Brows

There was a time when the Instagram brow was all the rage. Extremely precise brows with concealer to make them even sharper and filled in to perfection. These days, we are transitioning to a more natural looking brow that won’t take more than 5 mins to accomplish. The likes of Beyonce and Serena Williams have been way ahead of this trend, but better late than sorry!

The way I achieve a nice natural brow is my using one to two products. Yes, we need products for this natural look. You’re going to take an eyebrow pencil the shade of your natural eyebrow color and lightly draw tiny strokes in the direction your brow goes. Once you’ve filled in the gaps, take an eyebrow gel (clear or tinted) and run that across your brow in the same direction. And voila! Naturally fluffy brows, right at your door…of your face :)

White Winged Liner

You want to make sure that your lid is clear of any foundation or concealer, as the white liner will mix with any color present. Depending on your skill level with applying liner and the look you’re going for, the type of liner you use is totally up to you. For this look I used a pencil liner from NYX. It was pretty creamy and easily glided onto my lid. But for a more crisp wing, I would definitely go for a liquid liner.

Dewy/Glowy Skin

While we still live for a nice matte skin, the dewy/glowy skin regime has taken over and it’s a perfect complement for summer!

Before you apply any foundation, you’re going to apply a generous amount of illuminator, liquid highlighter, or balmy highlighter at the highest points of your cheek, on your forehead and on your chin. These are the places that are naturally highlighted and tend to glow so you want to enhance that look even more.

Once you’re foundation is all finished, you still need to set it BUT, to get that glowy look, you want to apply the powder properly. Take a powder brush (preferably a flat top one or a fluffy round one), dip that into your setting powder, tap off the excess, then sweep over your face. Do not bake under your eyes. I repeat, do not bake under your eyes. Once you’ve set your face, take your favorite setting spray, drop in a little liquid highlighter, and spray all over. That’s it! Glow on 100!

I hope you all enjoyed this post and will try these trends (if you haven’t already)!

Until next time…
