Nigerian Owned Clothing Brands

I am Nigerian, from the Edo/Benin and Yoruba tribe to be exact. I love my culture, I love my identity and how my upbringing has shaped my views. There’s a saying that goes “Naija no dey carry last”, essentially meaning, whatever Nigerians do, we will do it well. In the name of all that is fashion, I am sharing a few Nigerian owned clothing brands with you all in an effort to continuing support Black owned businesses across the diaspora, now and forever.

Kai Collective

This is another brand started by a fashion blogger in UK, Fisayo Longe. Her pieces have ALWAYS been a vibe, but her brand went viral with the Gaia collection being worn on the cover of Elle magazine and was also included in Beyonce’s round of up of black owned brands. This brand is for the bold woman (and man) who doesn’t subscribe to expectations of themselves (or in fashion). For the ones willing to go against the grain and look stylish doing so.

Fadé

For the everyday woman looking for quality clothing that’s versatile, reliable and timeless. This brand is founded by Alma of The Alma Chronicle with a focus on creating staple wardrobe pieces that can fit with any wardrobe. Their best selling ribbed tanks are one of those pieces that can easily be styled casually or elevated casually.

Hertunba

This is a brand that has recently come across my radar and their pieces have stopped me mid scroll! Particularly this dress that was seen on influencer during Lagos Fashion Week. Their pieces are some that I cannot wait to add to my wardrobe for that refined elevated feel that still honors the roots of african textiles and fabrics.

Ofuure

I shared this brand in a past IG Reel years ago, and they have since grown to incorporate a variety of different styles that honor heritage and tradition, and also cater to the western fashion looks that we love. From two piece sets to colorful swimwear, there really is something for everybody from this now household name brand.

Shop A.Au

The child of travel and lifestyle influencer, @asiyamigold, Shop A.Au offers luxury statement pieces. Ever since she’s launched, I always wanted to get my hands on at least one piece and I finally have! I’m wearing the Daima top in this post which is from the Resort 2020 collection. If you’re a fan of satin, silk, and organza, then you will absolutely love this brand.

Andrea Iyamah

Initially started off as swimwear, Andrea Iyamah has transcended into providing high quality stand out pieces that are guaranteed to make a statement. This video highlights some of their pieces that were sent to me and the quality of fabrics alone was a defining factor in making it a stand out brand to me. I’m a fan of statement pieces that can be worn with wardrobe essentials for an elevated casual look and Andrea Iyamah pieces provide that.

FSKP

This brand was started by an OG Style Blogger, Folake of Style Pantry. She was one of the inspirations behind me getting into style blogging, so it’s only right that I include her brand in this list! Her collections are always so sleek and chic. If you’re looking for pieces that are minimal but make a statement while staying affordable, then you’ll love this brand!

Menogu Designs

This brand is near and dear to my heart because one of my closest and dearest friends is the owner. So of course, we stan! I saw this brand built up from the very beginning and it’s so beautiful seeing it flourish. One of the best selling pieces from the collection are these shredded earrings that I have seen numerous times on the gram. I love this piece because no two are the same. So you’re always bound to have a unique look. This brand was also included on Beyonce’s site of a round up of black owned brands.

Imad Eduso

I first came across this brand because I saw a pair of embellished pants on a fellow influencer I follow and I was obsessed! The structure, the material, the color, everything about it was screaming LUXE to me. A lot of their pieces use taffeta as the main fabric, creating more wearable pieces from a fabric that’s usually reserved for bridal wear.
