I have always classified myself as someone who generally likes the color black when it comes to styling outfits. It’s sleek, chic, and hard to mess up. But, in an effort to add more bold colors to my wardrobe, like this chartreuse sweater, I have found myself LOVING brown as the complimentary color for my fall looks. To me, it’s a way to play around with color combinations, while still allowing myself to enjoy neutrals.

Black, as chic as it may be, can be harsh when it’s paired with bright colors. But brown brings the same level of chicness, without the stark contrast, providing a somewhat seamless transition from color to neutral. These trousers were an “on a whim” buy during a trip to the mall to return something else (go figure). They immediately caught my eye because of the length and the slightly tapered hem. They flatter my more straight body type and bring a little bit of added volume to the hips. The style of these pair really well with a pump, ankle boot, or open toe sandal.

Bright colors for fall is going to be the move for me this year. This is my effort to really expand my own personal style and to not be afraid to do things a little differently. For me, it’s important to switch things up and try new silhouettes, color combos, styles, etc. because as we get older, sometimes our taste changes. I can attest to that change and the desire to be more bold with my outfit options. This lime green/brown/burgundy color combo is one that I have come to absolutely adore. They just work together so well and I have a feeling that in the spring/summer, a variation of this will definitely be worn.
